STONE FRUITS GROWERS ASSOCIATION

A Grower Group provides the vehicle for producers and consumers to continue to grow and buy fruit on a sustainable basis. The possibility of low product income due to over supply and wastage is further compounded with the high packing and shipping cost of fresh produce.  By coordinating sales internationally growers can take advantage of the best market intelligence available and the regulated sale of their produce. Through joint co-ordination between marketer and Grower Groups better than average product income can be achieved.

By growing fruit on a contractual basis, producers are able to improve risk management and develop the total farming operation on a more comprehensive knowledge base than was possible in the past. Grower Groups create mechanisms to produce high quality fruit and jointly market the branded produce. By trade marking fruit consumers identify with quality fruit showcased by advertising campaigns.

Grower Groups are member driven. Contracts to grow certain crops are made available on the basis of membership consent. Growing, packing, and marketing are mutually agreed upon so that all members are able to shape the strategy of the Grower Group.
